Controversy In Kingsport

The crowd at the Civic Auditorium in Kingsport, Tennessee was on their feet Wednesday night when hometown hero Tony 'The Dragon' Givens defeated Brian Logan for the AWA Heavyweight title... or so they thought. Upon closer inspection, the officials found a pair of brass knuckles 'hidden' in Givens' trunks, forcing AWA official Clarence Cliffenback to throw out the decision. Needless to say, none of this sat well with the so-called 'uncrowned champ.'

'I think [the decision] is bull,' said a very colorful Givens moments after the match. 'I can't believe that he got away with this again. Everyone knows that I didn't have anything on me. I have no idea how they pulled this off.'

This is not the first time that Brian Logan has retained his title by 'questionable' means. On June 6th, 'The King of Kingsport' Beau James was thought to have beaten Logan in the Civic Auditorium. The decision was overturned after officials watched the official tape of the match. Some claim that Logan gets away with such tactics due to his alliance with John Hawkins, a long time nemesis of Givens. 'The Dragon' doesn't agree.

'Logan was controlling the whole thing. He's been playing mind games with me for months. He even attacked my wife.' Mind games or not, Tony is prepared for their next encounter. In fact, he even has a secret weapon - 'The Messiah of the Backbreaker' David Young. 'David knows Brian better than almost anyone else. They were former tag team partners. He knows how he thinks. There is no way that he is going to get around him.' No matter what happens, one thing is certain - 'The Dragon' will not give up. 'That title is mine, and I will get it back.'
